The Challenge
To build a multi-lingual website that would help agencies from across Europe work together to achieve their ambitious aims.
What was our role?
A Shared History
Peter Seccombe, a director at heritage interpretation consultants Red Kite Environment, had previously worked with Vu Online on several projects.
He already knew that we had the technical skill set to build functional, outcome-focused websites.
Multi-language and multi-agency, we needed to communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders
When Red Kite became involved as the UK partner on the H.I.M.I.S project, Peter understood what was required to be successful, including the construction of a website with multi-lingual capability. Peter turned to Vu for technical delivery of this aspect of the project.
Bringing Europe Together
Despite the modest size of the proposed website, the need to build in capability for handling five different languages made this a challenge that needed a lot of care and technical knowhow. The site structure would include separate directories for English, Polish, German, Italian and Greek content which needed to be presented in the appropriate language.
At the same time, it was important that the website functioned as a united whole. We took great care in testing the operation of the site from the perspective of users from each of the five constituent countries.
Since the H.I.M.I.S website would need to be optimised for searches carried out in any of the constituent countries, Vu carried out all necessary on-site and technical SEO to maximise search engine visibility.
The Solution
Through careful technical implementation, Vu ensured the new H.I.M.I.S website was perfectly set up for users speaking multiple European languages.
In a multi-agency, multi-national project, communication is key. Vu understood just how important a bug-free, multi-lingual website was for successful delivery of H.I.M.I.S and delivered the solution Red Kite needed.

Feedback
With Vu’s help, H.I.M.I.S had the ideal multi-lingual platform from which to deliver its good work. This included the creation of resources to help teachers develop effective learning materials to support migrants as they integrated into their new schools and communities.
